A LABOR OF LOVE DEDICATED TO WIDOWS & ORPHANS

A LABOR OF LOVE DEDICATED TO

WIDOWS & ORPHANS

Pure Heart Ministries

Our mission is to create a faith-centered community dedicated to teaching, worship, and compassionate service, inspired by James 1:27. We serve elderly and homebound widows who have few to no resources, visiting their homes to fellowship, provide food, and care for household chores such as washing clothes and general cleaning. Many of these widows are alone with no one to help them, and we aim to provide the love, care, and resources they need to thrive. We teach the younger widows to love and minister to the older widows, fostering spiritual growth and a sense of belonging for all. By bringing together widows from different churches and teaching them the Word of God and the importance of serving one another, we make a meaningful difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Join Our Story

“Today, many churches are taking care of themselves and not the children, widows and orphans. They are the ones who need us."

~ PASTOR PATRICK MUKHWUANA

Pastor Patrick was born in Kenya in 1988 and raised by his single mother after his parents separated. Growing up in poverty with his twin sister, he faced many challenges but remained resilient. Despite financial hardships that extended his schooling, he graduated with a diploma in Christian ministry in 2023. His spiritual awakening came in 2004 during high school, leading him to become a born-again Christian. By 2005, he was leading praise and worship, and in 2006, he founded the Interdenominational Youth Army to engage youth through crusades, worship, and supporting church leaders.

In 2015, Pastor Patrick felt called by God to serve widows, starting weekly home fellowships that offered emotional and material support. This ministry grew and, by 2020, became New Life Change Ministries, later renamed James 1:27 Ministry under Pastor Marsha J. Elliott’s guidance. Today, the ministry provides immediate relief like food and also equips widows and orphans with sustainable farming and self-sufficiency skills, emphasizing spiritual growth and the call to give back, as taught in Acts 20:35.

“This has been God’s doing. People are joining our mission of love to support the most vulnerable among us.”

PURE HEART MINISTRIES

Stories

Interviewing Conce

Pure Heart Ministry Foundation’ Marsha Elliot interviews Conce, who works with street-involved children in Kenya, bringing love, support, and compassion right where it’s needed most. We believe in living out James 1:27 by serving the most vulnerable in our communities. From providing food and prayer to simply spending time in prayer and conversations, this day reflects our mission to care with a pure heart.

Why James 1:27

James 1:27 “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widow in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” This is the Word of the Living God! He has commissioned us to do this work. God loves widows so much. When the Lord gave us this name, I was deeply moved by the word “religion”.

The Beginning

I met Pastor Patrick Mukhwuana when he reached out to me on Messenger. I don’t remember what he said. Most of you know that in America we get a lot of people from developing countries reaching out to us. They know we are a blessed country, not perfect but surely blessed as compared to many other countries.

Anna the Widow

Widows like Anna keep the fire of the altar burning. She did not depart from the altar. She kept on praying. God often uses them to prophesy His will over lives and to encourage and enlighten the people of God, just like Anna did at Jesus’ birth.
